About The Project
What inspired you to reach out to Turkey Tail Design and Woodcraft for a custom furniture piece?
We've always been fans of custom artwork, and pieces that are unique and reflect the vision of the artist. We've known Dylan for a long time, and when we found out that he was getting into furniture-making, we knew that he'd create something really amazing.
What specific needs or preferences did you have that led you to seek out a custom furniture solution?
We're hoping to fill our home with pieces that are unique and lasting. We live in a small apartment, and with room for only a few key pieces, we really want them to be special.
Can you share your experience working with Turkey Tail Design and Woodcraft to create your custom furniture piece?
We were really excited to work with Dylan to vision our custom TV console - he had so many great ideas and designs, and we knew it was going to be a smooth process and a really unique, creative, beautiful piece. We worked with Dylan to give our strict requirements, which were tight size constraints and wood preferences, and then he asked us to compile a series of photos of pieces/features that we liked for inspiration. We had a call with Dylan where we walked through our inspiration photos, and he asked a series of questions to understand our preferences. A few days later, he came back with sketches and a 3-D rendering of the piece that he was designing for us, which was perfect.
Ultimately, we wanted the piece to be a design that he was excited about, and he did a fantastic job matching our taste within his original style.
How has the custom piece been received by others? Have you received any compliments or feedback from friends or family?
People love it - it gets the most compliments of anything in our home!
Can you share any specific features or details of your custom piece that you particularly love?
The piece is just amazing - here are a few of our favorite features:
First, the details in the grain. The grain waterfalls over the sides, for a totally seamless look. It's super striking to the eye. The doors on the front are also mirrored vertically, giving a beautiful symmetry in the piece.
The handmade legs and knobs are really unique and beautiful - these were hand carved, and it shows!
When you open the doors, the back wall is a light cherry that contrasts the dark walnut throughout the rest of the piece. Just stunning!
Can you describe the process of working with Turkey Tail Design + Woodcraft on your custom order? How was the communication and collaboration?
Communication and collaboration was super easy. From the first design call to when Dylan dropped off the piece, it was a great experience.
In what ways does your custom piece enhance your space or meet your needs?
It has totally transformed our living room - the quality is outstanding and it's an eye-catching piece.
How did the final product compare to your expectations? Were there any aspects that surprised you?
We were convinced that the piece would be beautiful from the very first sketch, but seeing it in person completely surpassed our expectations. The wood and finish are stunning, the doors and cabinets are extremely well-made, and the design and details are striking. We can't wait to work with him again for our next piece!
